Reporting to the Executive Director of the Vale Columbia Center, the Research Director is responsible for conceptualizing and managing the Center’s research program. The research and related activities to be managed fall into three broad categories: the academic, the policy-oriented and the practical. The majority of the research and related activities will be related to defining and promoting sustainability in the extractive sector. The incumbent will manage several research associates and students in the preparation of materials, expert roundtables, and a conference on the topic. Additional activities under the incumbent’s purview include the development of a syllabus for courses in international investment law, monitoring developments in the FDI field, publications (and related activities) on outward FDI from emerging economies, and various additional research projects and activities. The Vale Columbia Center on Sustainable International Investment offers unpaid internship opportunities to work on a range of research and administrative tasks for the Program.
Responsibilities of this internship would include:The internship would require a minimum commitment of 10-20 hours a week. Students of the Columbia Law School are eligible for faculty assistant credit for this internship.
